Staff and Foster/Adoptive Parents 

At Strong Training and Consulting, we provide child welfare training and consulting services to local, national, public and private, child welfare organizations to help impact outcomes of children and families.

We believe that practical training, supervision, and support is key to the development of a healthy child welfare workforce. We believe that education, the transfer of learning and capacity building will ultimately help achieve better safety, permanency, and well-being outcomes for children and families. It is also key to staff retention, helping worker learn and practice new skills.

Our topics include; finding families for children; working with youth, teens and alumni of foster care; adoption; families working together; sibling relationships; father engagement, and much more. We also provide motivational keynotes, workshops, curriculum writing and more.

Bridging the Gap: Birth and Foster Families Working Together

This interactive training highlights the exciting work in the child welfare related to building and maintaining relationships and communication between birth parents and foster/adoptive parents. This workshop will help staff and foster parents better understand the importance of families working together, examines the benefits and challenges of these working relationships and explore strategies to ensure these working relationships are successful. This workshop features the Icebreaker DVD.

Unpacking the “No” of Permanency for Older Adolescents: Exploring Permanency for Youth in Foster Care

Family and life-long connections are crucial in achieving successful outcomes for youth in foster care. Unpacking the “NO” of Permanency for Older Adolescents Training addresses the importance of permanency. This training will provide an overview of data on older youth in foster care, major policy changes in foster care, the definition of permanency, the concept of permanency for youth, and strategies on how to change an initial “no” to permanency to “yes.”
